Nick joined Astellas in December 2015 and since this point have led transformations across the EMEA Procurement & Corporate Real Estate organizations comprising an EMEA spend of ~€1bn and a team of ~ 65 people.  Most recently, over the past 18 months, I have led the strategy and implementation of a Business Services model supporting both Finance and Procurement from delivery centres in India and Romania.  We have recently commenced the next phase of global Transformation and as a result, the focus is on transforming the global Procurement operating model and value proposition.

Since 2016, Digital has been at the heart of our transformation.  Over this period, we have gone through an ongoing evolution which has included: Introduction of a new end-to-end single Source-to-Pay (S2P) global template and technology suite creating the foundation for our transformation.  We will soon be implementing our 2nd wave of solutions; Introduction of a Risk Management solution integrated into our S2P processes and including the use of Artificial Intelligence to ensure a focus on the true risks to Astellas; As part of our Business Services implementation, identified a number of areas where automation has enhanced the speed and value add we are able to offer.

Digital is a very broad term and depending on your maturity, means different things to different people.  In Astellas, we have undertaken a highly iterative evolution with elements which can appeal to many organizations irrespective of maturity.  Through a clear digital roadmap and strong Source to Pay foundation, our technology has provided the basis for our transformation journey.
