I create and ensure the value contribution to the overall BI value
chain out of the categories my team manages. We affect BI´s value chain right
after the compound development up to how we interact with our consumers,
enabling innovative solutions. Scope of role: My scope is the global spend of
all the categories that lie in my area (MKT & Med agency services).
Therefore, I have a team of direct reports of 9 people in Germany and 2 in the
US that manage their categories globally. Indirect reports are in the
countries, implementing the strategies developed by the team in kind of a
network. We are, at the end, responsible and accountable for the end result in
every country. Just for clarification:
the categories are: Creative (Professional and Consumer), Media, Primary Market
Research, Competitive Intelligence, Digital, PR & Comms, Fulfillment, Med
Education, Publication Planning, Brand name development, Managed
Markets/Outsourced Mkt Services and Direct Mkt.
Over the last few years, we’ve excelled in how to ensure interaction
with the innovation team (projects) and the impact it has on how do we “scout”
partners that can really deliver the value promised. The typical “vendor
selection” process not only does not apply but it plays a negative role when
focusing on capabilities and different types of business models. IP topics for worldwide usage rights: it was
a necessary standardization and harmonization of what we want to have for them-
they do not apply in every case but when discussing innovative solutions for
unmet needs, it´s quite a relevant one as we do not develop solutions per
country but per disease
During this session, attendees should expect a very transparent
discussion on what´s to come (if not already there) when scouting a vendor and
the vision of the contribution to projects: large corporations are being
challenged by smaller, much more agile and innovative agencies. Each of them
has its advantages and disadvantages but at the end, the combination of both
can bring the best value starting on the ideation phase to the development and
